Cruising Into Spring

If you weren’t aware of it already, one of the nicest and most interesting things about Louisville is that it is situated on the Ohio River. If you travel to our fair city, you should certainly include activities centered around the beautiful Ohio….and there are many. A weekend or a night’s stay might also include accommodations in one of our amazing bed and breakfasts.

Cross your fingers that with March and April comes warmer weather because cruising season will be in full swing before you know it! We have many great cruises available these next couple months on both the Belle of Louisville and Spirit of Jefferson. Easter Brunch will be the Belle’s first cruise of her 99th season and will be a great event for the kids. Having a seat on the Belle for Thunder over Louisville is one of the most exciting places to watch the fireworks display. And if you haven’t already heard about the Belle’s 100th Birthday Bash you may be excited to see what we have planned.

Looking for something special to do for Easter this year? Why not try a cruise down the Ohio? The Belle of Louisville is hosting a Sunday Brunch with all the fixins.Click on the following link for information and to purchase tickets.

The Ohio River (Seneca: ohi:yó[2]) is the largest tributary, by volume, of the Mississippi River. At the confluence, the Ohio is even bigger than the Mississippi (Ohio at Cairo: 281,500 cu ft/s (7,960 m3/s);[3] Mississippi at Thebes: 208,200 cu ft/s (5,897 m3/s)[4]) and, thus, is hydrologically the main stream of the whole river system, including the Allegheny River further upstream. It is approximately 981 miles (1,579 km) long and is located in the Eastern United States.(wikipedia)” The river’s name comes from the Seneca (Iroquoian) ohi?yo’, a proper name derived from ohi?yo?h, meaning “good river”.
